Sophomore Album
After a long and distinguished career as a Doctor and Neurologist Charles Brown-Sequard made a shocking announcement in 1889 to The Academy of Sciences in Paris, France. At the age of 72 he claimed to have found a cure for aging. His "miracle rejuvenation cure" was concocted by mixing the "blood of the testicular veins, semen, and juice from a testicle, crushed immediately after it has been taken from a dog or guinea-pig".
By injecting this mixture into his veins over a period of a month he claimed to have "more strength, stamina, his concentration powers had improved, and his mental energy is considerably better." This kicked off the phenomena known as "Organotherapy". Which is responsible for much of the early knowledge of the endocrine, sexual reproductive systems, and an early precursor to hormone therapy. Brown-Sequard died 4 years after his announcement.
Strange things happen in our pursuit to prolong the inevitable. Sequard did not find the miracle cure he was hoping for but he did stumble upon a brand new field of science. In his pursuit to fend off his own death, he inadvertently wrote his name into the science of medicine for eternity.
There is no right way to put your stamp on this world. Parents impart their knowledge and wisdom onto their children. Businessmen innovate and breed new technology. A cook's finest meal puts a smile on his patrons face. A baker's bread... an artist's canvas... a musician's album... etc etc etc. We all create to prolong the inevitable. We all create to put our stamp on this world. And man's creations are often responsible for much of the beauty in this world.
So here on the day of my 30th year of birth I give you my second full length album. Syruprise is only slightly over a year old but this has been one of the most satisfying and creative periods of my life. While this experiment in creativity was a creation all my own, it simply would be not be without those whom I love being there to help shape me into what I am today.
Now with all of that having been said... does anybody have a dog or guinea-pig I can borrow?
